Combat Skiing - Skiing slopes riddled with rocks, ice, and eventually bushwhacking your way back to the car.
As the ski season approaches, winter has not. This past Saturday (12/2/17) myself and few friends attempted to try our luck at skiing Jones Pass and Butler Gulch. While we had a single line of success, the rest of the tour was spent fretting about the lack of snowpack.
We started out around 7:30am from the trail head, skinning up a terribly icy road. We eventually skied up the ridge-line only to met with less than ideal conditions. To the east of the continental divide, most mountains were dry. To the west, the snow was starting to form a bit more of a base.
After skiing our line, we spent the next hour romping through the woods and crossing pretty thin snow bridges. Overall a good early season day in the Rockies.
